Folds, trimmed at top edge just inside platemark of engraving, some staining, paper flaws and pin holes. 
 
 
Large, unrecorded broadside listing the lead administrators and craftsmen for the year 1695-96 at the Scuola di S. Giuseppe de Legnamari in Milan, i.e., the confraternity/guild of carpenters in that city. The broadside is headed by an engraving depicting St. Joseph helping the Christ Child. The scene takes place within an architectural frame (of wood, no doubt) inhabited by putti holding the various tools of the trade. An inscription in the engraving reads “Scola di Sto. Gioseefo de Legnamari,” and a date “1648” refer to the foundation of the institution. 
 
In the left column of text are listed the names of the prior, treasurer, various counselors & advisors, and, somewhat worryingly, a medical man (“infermiere”). Of greater interest are the names in the right column, i.e., the craftsmen specializing in ebony, horns & organs makers, turners, makers of violins & other bow instruments, guitars & lutes, clavichords & harpsichords, bale binders, carriage makers, bellows makers, box makers, arquebusiers, makers of frames for brocade and silk work, spinning mills, wood vases, fulling mills, wooden heels for slippers, saddle frames, and wood water nozzles.
