Indulgences for the living and dead at S. Lorenzo in Verona: Unrecorded etching.

Unrecorded etching listing indulgences available at the church of San Lorenzo in Verona. A manuscript annotation at the foot of the sheet records a payment for a requiem Mass for a certain Domenia Ronzetti on 4 January 1836. This indicates that the etching doubled as a menu/receipt for purgatorial services available at San Lorenzo.
 
At the top of the etching is an image of San Lorenzo. There follow notes (entirely etched but in imitation of letterpress text) concerning “Indulgences for the Dead” and “Indulgences for the Living.” Perhaps the most interesting of these is an allowance that temporarily turns the church of San Lorenzo in Verona into a virtual Rome: “Whoever visits the altars of the aforementioned church on any day during Lent will obtain the same indulgences as if they had personally visited the churches of Rome on that day, as set forth in the Papal Brief.”
