Unrecorded first and only edition of this month-long course of daily meditations on the Passion of Christ published expressly for the use of the Franciscan nuns (Clarisse) at the convent of Fermo (Le Marche).

The anonymous author states that he here has translated a French work by “a curate from the diocese of Lyon.” This be Antoine Montagnon’s, Méditations pour tous les jours du mois sur la passion de notre seigneur Jésus-Christ, a treatise first published around 1700 and reprinted many times during the 18th century. The 31-day meditation begins with Christ setting out for the Mount of Olive and ends with his burial. Each day includes prayers and instructions under the headings ‘mystery,’ ‘reflection’ and ‘practice.’

The anonymous author/translator states that this is “another” and “a second” book that he has presented to the Clarisse of Fermo, but I have been unable to discover the identity of the first work.
