Late 18th-century manuscript containing the Latin liturgy for the profession ceremony of nuns and the investiture & profession ceremonies of lay sisters (“sorores conversae”). The item is notable for the very high quality of its script and decoration. It appears to be of Italian origin.

Passages written in red ink indicate directions to clerics and nuns, while black inks was used for the words they were to speak. Musical notation is provided where needed (“Te Deum,” and “Veni Creator”). At page 17 is a formula to be spoken by the new sister (generically called “Sor Angela N.N.”) that indicates that the ceremony was for an Augustinian convent.
